The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is an Australian sports stadium in Sydney. It is used in Australian Rules football, rugby league, rugby union, and association football. The Sydney Cricket Ground is also used for One Day International and T-20 cricket. The New South Wales Blues cricket side, the Big Bash League’s Sydney Sixers. The Australian Football League’s Sydney Swans all call it home.
During the reconstruction of the Sydney Football Ground. It is also the temporary home of the National Sydney Roosters of Rugby League. The SCG Trust owns and operates it, as well as the Sydney Football Stadium. Now it is undergoing redevelopment by the NSW Government.
The second Sydney Common build in 1811 by Governor of New South Wales Lachlan Macquarie. It is utilized as a garbage dump in 1850. It is part sand-hills, part swamp, and is located on the city’s south-eastern outskirts. The British Army awarded a portion of the Sydney Common south of Victoria Barracks in 1851 for use as a garden and cricket area for the soldiers. The 11th North Devonshire Regiment was the first to use it. The flattening and grading of the southern half of the shooting range adjacent to the Barracks.
Another section of the Sydney Common, west of the Garrison Ground to what was then Dowling Street, was open for public enjoyment in late 1860. The stadium could host two grandstands by the time the first Sydney cricket test took place in February 1882. The Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust (known as the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust) is an Australian non-profit organization that manages a number of sporting facilities in Sydney, Australia.
