William Jefferson Clinton is an American politician. He born at born August 19, 1946. He worked as the United States’ 42nd president from 1993 to 2001. He was Arkansas’ governor from 1979-1981 and again from 1983-1992, as well as the attorney general of the state from 1977-1979. Clinton, a Democrat, was dubbed a “New Democrat” because many of his programs resembled a centrist “Third Way” political philosophy. He is married to Hillary Clinton, who served as a senator from New York from 2001 to 2009, as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, and as the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016.
William Jefferson Clinton attended Georgetown University and was born and brought up in Arkansas. He was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to study at University College, Oxford, and went on to Yale Law School after that. At Yale, he meet Hillary Rodham, to whom he get married in 1975. Clinton returned to Arkansas after receiving a degree and was elected state attorney general, followed by two non-consecutive terms as governor of Arkansas.
He reformed the state’s education system as governor and acted as head of the National Governors Association. Clinton defeated former Republican President George H. W. Bush and independent candidate businessman Ross Perot in the 1992 presidential election. He became the 3rd-youngest president of the United States at the age of 46.

He signed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act 1994 into law, but his healthcare reform plan refused to implement. In the 1994 elections, the Republican Party obtained unified control of Congress for the first time in 40 years, but Clinton was easily re-elected in 1996 and became the first Democrat to win a second full term since Franklin D. Roosevelt.
He began an ideological transformation in the mid-1990s, becoming significantly further conservative in his policy positions and lobbying for the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, and banking deregulation. He named Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer to the Supreme Court of the United States. The Congressional Budget Office recorded a balanced budget during Clinton’s last 3 years in office, the first since 1969.
Clinton, together with Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan, had the greatest approval rating of any US president in the modern era when he left office in 2001. In historical rankings of US presidents, his presidency has been considered among the top tier.
