Live updates from the Tokyo Olympics: The United States men’s basketball team beat Iran

USA team had another successful day in the water, with Katie Ledecky claiming gold in the first-ever Olympic women’s 1,500-meter freestyle Tokyo Olympics and fellow American Erica Sullivan collecting silver. With a time of 15:20.48, Ledecky entered the event as the world champion.

Alex Walsh and Kate Douglass added to Team USA’s swimming triumph, becoming the fourth and fifth American teens to win in four days in Tokyo Olympics, capturing silver and bronze in the 200-meter individual medley, respectively.

Later in the day, additional gold medalist will be crowned in the 3×3 basketball finals. In the women’s semifinal, Team USA would face France in Tokyo Olympics, with a win putting them in the gold-medal game later that night.

In men’s basketball, the NBA players of the United States bounced back from a dismal opening-game loss to France with a blowout of Iran.
