Removing on an England shirt is always unique, so I am incredibly happy to be doing it again this September in Soccer Aid for Unicef, Rooney said.

Last year, guiding the England squad was wonderful, but being around the players are making me want to put on my boots again and now I have one last opportunity. Since its beginning in 2006, Soccer Aid for charity Unicef for poor children has been a powerful force for good.

As in past years, two groups of ex-professionals and personalities, known as England and World XI or The Rest of the World,’ are in the line-up for Soccer Aid 2021.

The World XI will be coached by Harry Redknapp once again and he will be aided by Judy Murray and Robbie Keane.

The tenth Football Aid event will be held at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on Saturday, September 4th, with a 7.30pm kick-off. The event of last year was held within closed doors due mainly to the coronavirus outbreak, but tickets for this year’s event are now available to buy.
