American Dream mall in the United States
The Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, United States, has a shopping and entertainment complex called American Dream. The first and second of four opening stages took place on October 25, 2019, and December 5, 2019, respectively.
Although, the Meadowlands Xanadu idea was first presented by the Mills Corporation in 2003. The development began in 2004. Colony Capital took up the business after Mills Corporation went bankrupt in 2007.
However, the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers halted development in May 2009. In May 2011, Triple Five Group announced the intention to buy the mall. On July 31, 2013, the mall and adjacent property took over.
In 1994, the Mills Corporation began developing designs for a mall in the New Jersey Meadowlands. Meadowlands Mills was built on the Empire Tract in Carlstadt, New Jersey. Meadowlands Mills has 587 acres of wetlands.
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) published a call for proposal for construction in what was then the Continental Airlines Arena parking lot in July 2002.
Construction stops again in December 2016 after a succession of changes of ownership, funding concerns, construction delays, and court challenges. The Construction of the building restarts in late June 2017 after the new financing acquisition. Despite the project’s “chronically postponed” launch deadlines.
The Nickelodeon Universe theme park find in October and the Big Snow American Dream ski slope launched in December, respectively.
Following Governor Phil Murphy’s statement on August 26 that amusements might reopen on September 1 with restrictions. Big Snow American Dream declared that it will resume on that date, while other pastimes. The mall’s first major retail establishments reopened on October 1.
The mall features around 200 tenants as of December 2021.
